Home Air Sealing

Professional Air Sealing & Blower Door Testing in Tulsa

Why Air Sealing Matters

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, the average home leaks enough air daily to equal leaving a window open year-round. Sealing those gaps prevents energy loss and creates a more comfortable indoor environment.

Top Benefits of Professional Air Sealing

  • Lower energy bills: Sealing prevents air from escaping, so your HVAC system doesn’t have to work as hard.
  • More comfort: No more cold spots or hot rooms—just consistent indoor temperatures.
  • Cleaner indoor air: Air sealing helps block allergens, dust, and moisture from entering your home.
  • Improved safety: Proper sealing still allows for the right amount of ventilation, helping reduce carbon monoxide risks and airborne chemicals.

How Blower Door Testing Works

A blower door is a special fan installed in an exterior door. It lowers indoor air pressure and causes outside air to enter through gaps and cracks. This helps our experts quickly find leaks using tools like smoke sticks and infrared cameras. We use calibrated blower doors to provide accurate air flow data and measure how tight your home is.

Getting Ready for Your Blower Door Test

Before we arrive:

  • Put out all wood fires and remove ashes.
  • Be ready to walk through your home with the technician. Point out drafty areas or comfort concerns.
  • Make sure we can access attics, closets, crawl spaces, and every room.
  • Expect us to close windows and exterior doors, open interior doors, and shut fireplace dampers.
  • The test may take about one hour, depending on your home’s size and layout.

Two Approaches to Air Sealing

Best Option: Attic Top Plate Sealing

We remove attic insulation, seal all visible leaks (around wires, pipes, and framing gaps), then reinstall fresh insulation. This is the most effective way to prevent attic air from leaking into your living space.

Good Option: Interior Air Sealing

If attic access isn’t possible, we seal from the inside. We use caulk, foam, and weather stripping while also isolating combustion appliances for safety. Although this approach may not be as airtight, it still makes a big difference—especially in older homes.
